The Role

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our family of engineers and scientists with an interest in managing and expanding an interdisciplinary staff of approximately 15 civil and hydraulic engineers and planners. In this position you will be part of the management team leading a global water company ranked #3 by ENR. You will have the opportunity to coordinate with other Water Division offices across the U.S. Technical services provided to our clients include the planning, analysis, engineering, and design associated with flood risk management, stormwater, and other related water resource management projects.

Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, positive motivation, training, and employee recognition. Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract, and company business objectives.

  • Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract, and company business objectives.

  • Support company risk management program and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures.

  • Support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization reporting requirements.

  • Act as client manager for select clients in the water resources industry.

  • Act as program/project manager and/or provide senior level technical roles for select projects and programs in the area of planning, analysis, engineering and/or design associated with flood risk management, stormwater, and other related surface water resources management projects.

  • Support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in priority markets, including federal, state and local clients.

  • Promote a safety conscious work environment.

 Qualifications

  • BS in engineering with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the water resources industry and a CA PE required.

  • Regional client management experience and relationships with municipalities, counties, state and federal agencies. USACE and County (Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino) experience a plus.

  • Water resources project design experience with municipalities, counties, and state agencies. 

  • Experience with risk management oversight

  • Knowledge of project management, resources allocation, utilization, and cost control

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with the ability to engage and motivate others

  • Good reasoning, conflict management, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Knowledge in financial reporting and forecasting preferred

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • A fair and equitable compensation package, which includes a competitive base salary + bonus eligibility. The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000; individual compensation will vary within this range based on your skills, qualifications and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position.
