Job Summary:
Tetra Tech Inc.'s Disaster Recovery division is currently seeking a Deputy Project Manager with experience in consulting, disaster recovery or similar fields to assist disaster survivors and their communities in recovering from disaster events.
The Deputy Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project execution from initiation through close-out. This role combines program administration, stakeholder coordination, quality assurance, schedule and budget control, and supervision of both office-based and field personnel to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of services.
You must be able to work both in a team environment and independently, have strong organization skills, be comfortable interacting with clients, be able to travel as needed to onsite locations, have a flexible style, and be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project management plans and quality control plans, including technical approach, organizational chart with key personnel assignments, communications strategy, and processes for change-order management.
- Prepare and update a detailed project schedule identifying tasks, milestones, critical path, and resource assignments; monitor progress and trigger corrective actions for potential delays.
- Lead periodic progress meetings with clients, government agencies, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, document action items and track resolution.
- Administer all contract deliverables, reporting requirements, and invoicing.
- Mobilize and manage field teams conducting inspections and environmental evaluations.
- Ensure all work complies with safety requirements, including halting field activities under unsafe weather or site conditions.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate project staff, subcontractors, and technical specialists; assign tasks, monitor performance, and address personnel issues.
- Foster a collaborative team culture; facilitate cross-functional coordination between office and field personnel.
- Provide on-call support for urgent program needs and participate in ad-hoc meetings as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree is required.
- 3-5 years of applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of federal grant programs, including related statutes, regulations, policies and processes. A combination of industry experience and degree may be substituted.
- Ability to travel within the U.S. and U.S. territories, if requested.
- PC, Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required with emphasis on strong Excel skills
- Ability to learn project-specific computer systems as needed.

Must be located in St. Louis, Missouri.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing program reports and client presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Consulting and/or experience in state or federal grantor agencies is preferred.

OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, CSP, PMP, or similar certifications are a plus.
