Management Systems International (MSI), A Tetra Tech Company is seeking a Documentation Engineer to provide IT technical support to a Department of State's (DoS) program in Springfield, VA. The position is available immediately. Requires a Top Secret clearance.   The Project Department of State with the Bureau of Information Resource Management

The Position
  • Possess and apply knowledge regarding installation, maintenance, operation, and implementation of network transport solutions (primarily Layer 2).
  • This is an entry level technical position initially focused on documentation with the expectation that the person in this position will be able to grow into directly supporting network staging and troubleshooting efforts in the Wi-Fi and future network programs.
  • Will work with engineers doing the staging and deployment of Cisco routers, Cisco Ethernet switches, Cisco wireless LAN controllers, Cisco firewalls, and any deployed systems to learn and document the process and procedures for staging and deploying the hardware.
  • Will work with engineers on pilot projects and document system setups to include creating network diagrams, documenting IP addresses and address schemes, and configuration of all systems used to make pilot project work.
  • Will need to be available to go on time sensitive and/or mission critical trips for the department where normal resources are not available due to scheduling/contractual.
  • Will need to travel with pilot project teams to capture/document issues found and resolution steps.
  • Travel worldwide and domestic as needed for pilot project, initial project installation efforts to capture and refine processes and procedures or helping with installations for time/mission critical deployments. Expectation is less than 10% travel required. Candidate does not need a passport to get the position but will need to apply for one after being hired.
Requirements
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • 1-2 years of experience in a technical position supporting IT systems
  • Previous work in a ticket-based resolution system a plus.
