Our office specializes in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:

Your Role: 

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. Mechanical team members will work closely with a group of engineering professionals on projects in the oil & gas and pipeline sectors, in a challenging and versatile engineering consulting environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the client and project team members as the Mechanical Engineering Lead to complete engineering deliverables for projects primarily in the oil & gas and pipeline sectors.
  • Adept in facility design & development, equipment selection, material and manhour estimates, budget forecasting and tracking
  • Work with projects' stakeholders; including clients, engineers, vendors & suppliers, and implementing change and risk management processes to ensure project completion on time and budget
  • Skilled in equipment design and material selection of mechanical equipment such as: ASME and API Pumps, Valves, ASME B31.3 and CSA Z662 piping systems, API 650 tanks, ASME VIII pressure vessels, and creating bid packages and evaluating vendor and contractor proposals
  • Expertise in design and development of project document such as: P&IDs, plot plans, equipment datasheets, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers is required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered as a P.Eng with APEGA (or other provincial engineering association)
  • 5+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Previous experience in the following would be an asset:
    • Tank farms, pump stations, LACTs and Oilsands projects 
    • Tailings and Hydro-transport projects 
    • Pipeline and Pipeline facilities
    • Field experience in an operating facility or construction 
  • Experience using 3D AutoCad or equivalent is an asset
  • Autopipe, Ceasar II, NozzlePro, Abacus experience is an asset
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
  • Strong attention to detail

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Periodic travel within Canada to client sites and regional Tetra Tech offices may be required. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing and background checks may be required for our client worksites. As this position may be serving clients that have vaccination requirements for site access, we may be confirming your eligibility to comply with this requirement.
