About the role
For over 30 years, our civil and structural groups have delivered pre-feasibility and definitive feasibility studies, detailed design and EPCM projects for our mining and infrastructure clients across all phases of the project life cycle from identification to operations.
Reporting to the Principal Structural Engineer, you'll assist the team to develop concepts and undertake detailed design for a wide variety of structures. These structures will vary from the design of rock-climbing walls, modifications to commercial buildings, crane assessments, earth retaining structures, machine foundations, portal frames, bridge assessments, mining and heavy industrial related structures, temporary works, and demolition engineering.
Steel and concrete design in accordance with Australian Standards will comprise most of your work. You will also be involved with project management, site inspections and construction support.
Our team has high quality and checking standards and prefers the use of 3D models and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – you will have opportunities to learn and develop your analysis skills.
You'll work closely with designers, various engineering disciplines, project managers and other Tetra Tech professionals regularly.
You will quickly become involved with clients and learn how to appreciate their design criteria, specifications, and scopes of work, so that you can deliver efficient engineering projects.
About you
Critical to your success will be:
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil/Structural Engineering recognised by Institute of Engineers Australia
- Up to 2 years' experience as a structural engineer
- A thorough knowledge of the Australian Standards for design of concrete and steel design
- Experience in structural modelling - specific experience using Spacegass and Strand 7 software packages would be advantageous
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must as you'll be communicating regularly with internal and external stakeholders
- Ambitions to obtain CPEng and RPEQ status
