The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Process (water/wastewater systems, HVAC, plumbing) engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will work as part of an engineering consulting team for the design, development and implementation of process systems and building mechanical systems required for municipal facilities such as water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and maintenance buildings.
We work on a wide range of projects including water, solid waste, and general facilities. Our project scope typically includes all associated disciplines for the planning, design, and construction administration of urban, rural, and remote infrastructure for municipalities and First Nations across Western and Northern Canada. Infrastructure includes drinking water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (piping and pumping) systems and facility mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems. The successful candidate would be joining an exciting and fast-paced environment in a growing department.
You will perform a technical role on a wide variety of engineering assignments. Candidates should have a successful track record in working on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in a team environment.
The team you would be working with is primarily based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with key clients located in northern Alberta and southern Manitoba. This position is open for remote, hybrid, or in-person workers (Calgary, Edmonton, or Winnipeg offices) however to accommodate client and project site visits remote workers must be based in Alberta or Manitoba.
This position is a permanent full-time role and will be based in the Winnipeg office and will include work with clients throughout Canada. The successful candidate will report to the M&E manager in Winnipeg.

Your Role:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Design of process design of water and wastewater infrastructure, including preparation of process mechanical layouts, piping systems, equipment specifications, and hydraulic design elements.
· Design of facility HVAC and plumbing systems including preparation of mechanical building calculations, equipment sizing, ventilation strategies and code compliance assessments.
· Participate in multidisciplinary mechanical coordination (architectural, structural, electrical and controls).
· Occasional field work such as for asset condition assessments, site inspections, client meetings, and performance testing.
· Mentorship of junior team members.
· Collaboration with other professionals to achieve common goals.
- Registered in good standing as a P.Eng. in Canada.
- 5+ years design engineering work experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: municipal water, wastewater infrastructure, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical building systems or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- Candidates with experience in one area and interest in development the other would be strongly considered.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Canadian citizenship.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, including interpersonal, written, and verbal abilities.
- Strong technical abilities, as demonstrated through experience with solving technical, construction, and client challenges, as well as anticipating and mitigating risk.
- Strong organizational skills, as demonstrated through experience with project delivery and conformance to internal standards and guides for technical applications.
- Experience and success in working within multi-disciplinary teams that may reside in multiple offices or remote locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Full Class 5 Driver's Licence in good standing required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- HVAC design experience would be a definite asset.
- Facility plumbing and drainage design experience would be a definite asset.
- Field and/or construction administration experience an asset.
- AutoCAD experience would be an asset.

Aptitude in project coordination/management, demonstrated through experience and/or certifications would be an asset.
