We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Archaeologist to join our team as a Senior Peer Reviewer. The Senior Peer Reviewer will be responsible for conducting rigorous peer reviews of archaeological reports, research papers, and technical documents to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to industry standards.

 

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in archaeology, strong analytical skills, and the ability to provide constructive feedback to authors and researchers. This is a part time as needed position.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Conduct thorough peer reviews of archaeological reports, research papers, and technical documents, evaluating the accuracy of data, methodology, interpretations, and conclusions.

·         Assess compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in archaeology.

·         Provide detailed feedback and recommendations to authors and researchers to improve the quality and rigor of their work.

·         Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during the peer review process.

·         Stay informed about developments in the field of archaeology, emerging trends, and best practices in peer review and research methodologies.

·         Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout the peer review process, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive information and research findings.

 

Qualifications:

·         Master's or Ph.D. degree in Archaeology or a related field.

·         Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in archaeological research, fieldwork, and report writing.

·         Proven experience in conducting peer reviews of archaeological reports and technical documents.

·         In-depth knowledge of archaeological theory, methods, and practices, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

·         Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex archaeological data and interpretations.

·         Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback to authors and researchers.

·         Detail-oriented and meticulous, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $38.00 - $42.00 hr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

·         Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.

·         Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels. 

·         Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
