Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be an essential member of the Accounting team and the Finance Department, supporting all accounting needs. This role will report to the Accounting Manager. The preferred location for this role is in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review expense reports and labor invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Create a batch of the payment requests of expense reports and labor invoices and submit them to Corporate's shared services center for system entry.
  • Review batches entered in MSI's accounting system by Corporate.
  • Request payment of invoices.
  • Review and update vendor's records and their payment methods.
  • Serve as the liaison with Corporate's Vendor team when new vendors are needed, ensuring proper documentation is provided by MSI's internal staff.
  • Process monthly MSI Headquarters (HQ) fixed payments and reclass entries as needed.
  • Process employee and vendor's advance requests in accordance with company's policy.
  • Follow-up on outstanding employee and vendor's advances and reconcile them in accordance with company's policy.
  • Review and update MSI's internal systems such as LAS, Colibri, AP Portal, etc.
  • Review and process monthly corporate credit card reconciliation for accounting system entry.
  • Report any Taxable Allowances paid through Accounts Payable (AP) to MSI's Payroll and assist with reconciliation as needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for expense report questions and lead trainings on expense report application and company specific requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for AP related questions and maintain a friendly and professional relationship with MSI's Project Managers.
  • Provide support in maintaining AP internal and companywide resources.
  • Work on ad-hoc requests as needed. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Experience in accounts payable required.
  • Experience with government contracting preferred.
  • Experience with USAID preferred.
  • Fluency in English required. Proficiency in a second language preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $68,000 to $75,000 USD.
