Job Details:

 

We are currently seeking a fill a coop position in Structural team at our Mississauga office. A co-op student performs various engineering assignments which requires a general familiarity with a broad field of engineering. Must be able to solve problems by use of a combination of standards and modified standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of design calculations and structural modelling using structural analysis software and calculations for equipment support structures and foundations.
  • Support project design team by completing material take-offs.
  • Support department quality objectives through updating procedures and consolidating feedback from the engineering department.
  • Communicate with other design disciplines to complete multidiscipline design tasks. 
  • The candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining project timelines while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills).

 

Requirements:

 

  • Completed second year of a University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with plans to return to school following the coop term.
  • Availability for 8 or 12 months is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills are required.  Must work well in a team of engineers, drafters and project managers to complete project assignments.
  • Computer-oriented skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, Numerical Methods Solutions, Structural Analysis Software such as STAAD, SFrame, RISA etc...) is an asset.
  • Experience within the utility or power industry is considered an asset.

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
