Project Summary:

The Mozambique Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MozMEL) Activity is a five-year initiative to support the Mission in monitoring, evaluation, learning, training, and logistical support. The MozMEL Activity has been asked to conduct an intervention in Cabo Delgado that will include monitoring, verifying, and evaluating Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)-funded activities in Mozambique.

Position Summary:

The Third-Party Monitoring (TPM) GIS Specialist will work closely with the Senior TPM Manager and the TPM team. This is a full-time position based in Maputo with travel to Cabo Delgado.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform GIS data quality control and management of field data that included daily data reviews, and maintenance of data management and GIS hardware and software.
  • Monitor database, which includes reviewing the data for completeness and accuracy, identifying, correcting errors, or omissions in the data and ensuring that the data is stored correctly in the project GIS database, including correct coordinate projection and metadata.
  • Provide cartographic, data, and spatial analysis support.
  • Develop map products to support the evaluation and reporting of findings.
  • Capture GIS data in different formats using GPS, digitizing, and other means.
  • Perform GIS spatial analysis as required.
  • Train staff members/consultants on smartphone/tablet data collection tools and methods from a technical perspective.
  • Provide data for client as per any queries and provide weekly deliverable status report to the Team Lead.
  • Perform any other duties as required from time to time by the supervisors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as economics, sociology, social sciences, information technology, or statistics is required.
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Experience conducting research and data collection in Mozambique is required.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
