Project Summary:

The Government of Egypt (GOE) envisions improved government efficiency and transparency through increased automation and e-services, human development and staff training for judges, senior court management and clerical staff, social inclusion, and the development of systems as laid out in its Vision 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy. To support that vision, MSI is implementing the USAID-funded Economic Courts Activity, a five-year program that works in eight Egyptian governorates: Cairo, Alexandria, Ismailia, Tanta, Mansoura, Beni Suef, Assiut and Qena.

Position Summary:

The Transparency Assistant will contribute the effective and efficient implementation of the Economic Courts Activities (ECA) interventions by ensuring vendors comply with requirements and timelines, and deliverables meet quality standards. This role will work closely with the Transparency Manager, ECA Project Management Team (PMT), and ECA procurement staff to ensure a timely and efficient procurement process for new interventions. For existing interventions, the Assistant will constantly monitor deliverable timelines to ensure vendors and consultants are on track and will alert the Transparency Manager of any potential concerns.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transparency Manager in doing research into the jurisdiction, operations, and Strategic Plans of the Economic Courts to assist in the development of training programs to increase their transparency and legitimacy in the eyes of investors and the public.
  • Provide organizational and logistical support to project experts developing and delivering training, working in tandem with representatives of the project's Operations and Finance teams to ensure the highest quality programming, in compliance with project, implementer, and donor expectations, regulations, and rules.
  • Organize workshops, conferences, and events on behalf of the objective, and serve as the interface between the objective, participants, and other project teams such as Communications and MEL to ensure that deliverables are met, data is collected, and successes are captured in reports or other contractual deliverables.
  • Assist the Objective Manager with the preparation of the activity request form and event management checklist, as required, and complete or oversee the activity budget preparation.
  • Collect paper-based training records, entry of data from paper format into electronic records and verify electronic data by comparing to source documents.
  • Sort, organize, and file paperwork after entering data, updating existing training data as needed.
  • Travel to provide trainings at locations outside of Cairo as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Transparency Manager and the Chief of Party.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the legal field or in a related area is required.
  • Knowledge of USAID rules, regulations, and procedures preferred.
  • Proficiency in word processing tools and spreadsheets such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is required.
