The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Transportation Engineer, PE – CEI to our Transportation team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This role supports Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects, providing technical leadership, client coordination, and oversight of construction activities in accordance with applicable standards and agency requirements.

Position Summary:
The Transportation Engineer, PE – CEI supports the delivery of transportation construction projects through Construction Engineering and Inspection services. This role is responsible for managing construction contracts, coordinating with public agency clients, mentoring staff, and ensuring projects comply with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
    • Manage transportation construction contracts in the field for ODOT and OTA projects.
    • Issue and process change orders, pay estimates, final estimates, audits, and project closeout documentation.
    • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
    • Prepare scopes of work for transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
    • Serve as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers and technicians; manage and mentor staff.
    • Support business development efforts by acquiring new projects from existing and potential clients.
    • Perform periodic field site visits to support construction oversight and coordination.

Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Oklahoma, or ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months.
    • Familiarity with applicable transportation engineering codes, standards, and agency requirements.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to travel to project sites; daily in-state travel of approximately one (1) hour may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:
    • Prior experience with ODOT and/or OTA transportation projects.
    • Experience managing CEI contracts for roadway or transportation infrastructure projects.
    • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineering or inspection staff.

Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform office-based work and periodic field activities at active construction sites.
    • Ability to walk, stand, and perform light to moderate physical activity during site visits.
    • Ability to travel locally to project sites on a regular basis.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
    • Combination of office environment and active outdoor construction sites.
    • Exposure to varying weather conditions during field inspections.
    • Moderate noise levels and proximity to construction equipment during site visits.

Additional Information:
    • Employment Type: Full-time, regular position.
    • Work Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility to support construction schedules.
    • Travel Requirements: Periodic in-state travel required; approximately one (1) hour of daily travel to project sites.
    • Work Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with regular field presence at project locations.
