Pediatric Anesthesiologists Needed in Austin, TX

Texas Children's Hospital is building a state-of-the-art children's and women's hospital in North Austin, Texas, opening in early 2024. Services planned include Heart Center, Neurosurgery, Neonatal Surgery, Fetal Center, Women's Unit with Labor and Delivery and Operating Rooms, and all major Pediatric Surgical Subspecialties. Texas Children's Department of Anesthesiology is creating an Austin Division to provide high quality, state of the art care in all these areas.

Position Highlights:

  • Join our nationally recognized team of pediatric specialists as we seek to hire a full-time clinical Pediatric Anesthesiology (Assistant Professor) at our new Austin, Texas location.
  • Provide surgical anesthesia for all types of routine pediatric surgery including outpatient ear, nose and throat procedures and general surgery cases.
  • Assist in the opening and growth of the hospital consisting of 5 OR's and 1 hybrid OR.
  • Consultation with surgeons and pediatricians.
  • Pre-admission anesthetic evaluation and testing, including preoperative instructions and tours for children and their families.
  • Anesthesia management for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including cardiac catheterization and minor hematology/oncology procedures.
  • The Anesthesiologist may provide anesthesia services for OB Anesthesiology.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
  • An academic record consistent with appointment as an assistant level or associate professor is desired given TCH's affiliation with Baylor. However, this is NOT required for this position.
  • The ideal candidate will have a pioneer-like spirit that is flexible and comfortable with the challenges of starting and ramping up a new facility.
  • Applicants must have a Medical School Degree, Residency in Anesthesiology, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
  • The successful candidate will be board certified/eligible in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology.
  • Additional subspecialty training in pediatric anesthesia is required.
  • The selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Texas medical license.
