The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The Active Treatment Coordinator (HHS Program Coordinator) will be hired and directly supervised by the Assistant Director of Programs at DSSLC. Primary responsibilities include Organizing and coordination leisure activities for individuals served which is age appropriate, based on individualized interests, and as meaningful in reaching their goals; Providing coordination, assistance, and training to direct support staff; and Maintaining adequate training materials and supplies to implement active treatment activities for assigned units. Work involves overseeing, monitoring, and providing instruction/training regarding active treatment plans. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Some flex time, overtime, evening, some weekends may be required.

 

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

 

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime, in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

 

Monitors the implementation of the program objectives by the Direct Support Staff, or optimal individual treatment and training for assigned therapeutic specialty. Ensures the direct support staff satisfactorily completes documentation of treatment for each consumer for programs related procedures. Ensures the collection and completion of data related to treatment plans in order to accuracy assess individual progress. Will participates in special projects by the Director, ADOP and DRS. 

 

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

 

Ability to train staff in treatment methods and related areas. Ability in written and oral communication. Ability to assist in development of treatment and supports plans. Ability to develop and maintain data collection systems for assigned caseload. Ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software. General knowledge of assigned caseloads. General knowledge of ICF regulations and Settlement Agreement as well as state supported living center policies and procedures is preferred. Physical requirements are the same as those for direct support staff positions. Skill in use of equipment tools and materials used in therapeutic activities. Some college course work in behavioral sciences, education or related areas. Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others. Demonstrated commitment to facility mission and service/workplace values. Ability to provide to prepare concise reports, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others. 

 

Initial Screening Criteria:

 

Bachelor's degree in special education from an Accredited University/College or related field or two years of experience assisting in teaching, coaching and mentoring staff to substitute for degree on a year for year basis.

 

Two years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. 

 

Additional Information:

 

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

 

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

 

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
