Main Function:
Leadership Activities - 20%
- Responsible for administrative oversight of the Urgent Care APPs in conjunction with the EM Administrative Director and Medical Directors.
- Coordinates the APP schedule for the ED and Urgent Care Centers, as necessary.
- Coordinates educational and in-service opportunities for the Urgent Care team members, as indicated by quality metrics or outside accrediting agencies.
- Provides direction, leadership, planning, organization and general management for all aspects of care provided by the Urgent Care APP team in conjunction with leadership.
- Assures professional competence and growth of Associates within service area.
- Identifies problems within areas of responsibility and initiates effective problem-solving strategies, working closely with inter- and intra-disciplinary services to effect successful integrated solutions.
- Coordinates rotations for visiting APP students and shadowing shifts for prospective APP students.
- Patient Care - 80%
- Performs and records a history and physical examination on patients being evaluated in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care centers.
- Initiates therapy and writes orders on patients being cared for in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centers.
- Works in an efficient manner. Selects patients to see and make decisions as to timing of consultation with emergency attending physician in a manner that results in the most efficient provision of excellent care to the patient.
- Establishes and maintains good communication and working relationships with members of the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and other Hospital and CCC departments. -
- Documents all patient contact accurately in the medical record at the time the patient is seen.
- Performs procedures (i.e. ABG's, IV insertions, NG tube insertions) when assistance is requested by the nursing staff.
Schedule: Full time day/evening shifts including weekends
Qualifications:
• Active NYS certification/registration as a Nurse Practitioner
• BLS, ACLS required. PALS recommended
• DEA license required
• Able to gain appropriate FFTH privileges
Education:
- Graduation from an approved school as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant and current NYS Certification for PA or licensed NP
- If a PA must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Meets continuing education requirements of the applicable discipline board
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Emergency Medicine/suitable experiences are considered on an individual basis
Pay Range: $62.00 - $70.00 pay range plus 5% annual increase in salary for 0.1 FTE Lead
