Main Function:

Performs all duties and responsibilities involved in polysomnography services including collecting, analyzing, scoring, monitoring and recording physiological data. The Implementation of any type of polysomnographic physiologic non-invasive monitoring including continuous positive airway pressure and bi-level positive airway pressure including supplemental oxygen.

Education of patients, family and the public concerning the procedures and treatments used during polysomnographic technology or concerning any equipment or procedure used for the treatment of any sleep disorder.

 

Required Job Specific Competencies: 

  • Meets JCAHO, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Registered Polysomnography Technician, Registered Sleep Technician and Licensure in Polysomnography standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle all unusual and urgent calls of life-threatening situations or patients with respiratory difficulties (i.e. Code Blues, etc.) while in the Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling by adapting readily to changes in patient volumes and allowing staffing levels to flex in conjunction with those changes in patient volumes.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all equipment directly or indirectly related to the therapeutic and/or diagnostic responsibilities of the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and to the care of the patient.
  • Actively supports the confidentiality of sensitive info including but not limited to patients and staff of the health system.

 

Qualifications

  • Licensed by NYS in Polysomnography.
  • Registered RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist)
  • Basic CPR training required

 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Polysomnography or Respiratory therapy

Experience:

  • 1 year relevant experience in a health care setting.

Pay Range: $30.00 - $36.00

Starting Pay: Based on Experience
