POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Sales is a strategic leader responsible for driving top-line revenue through the development and execution of innovative sales strategies. This role demands a deep understanding of the hospitality landscape, strong analytical and leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences. The Director of Sales will lead and inspire a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Overseeing group, corporate, leisure, and catering sales, the Director ensures alignment with the hotel's overall business goals while identifying new opportunities for growth, optimizing market share, and building long-term client relationships that enhance the hotel's reputation and profitability.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Design and implement strategic sales plans across key segments: group, corporate, leisure, and catering.

  • Establish sales targets, KPIs, and performance benchmarks for the sales team.

  • Analyze market trends, demand patterns, and competition to optimize positioning and pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to manage rate strategy, group displacement analysis, and channel mix.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top clients, meeting planners, travel advisors, and business influencers.

  • Personally manage key accounts and lead strategic sales efforts to secure high-value business.

  • Partner with the Catering & Events team to ensure flawless group execution and client satisfaction.

  • Attend networking events, sales missions, and industry trade shows.

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing sales team reflective of the hotel's commitment to service excellence.

  • Conduct ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development planning.

  • Oversee all sales activities using platforms such as Delphi and Opera Sales & Catering.

  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and pipeline reviews with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Approve group rates, contracts, and space allocations to ensure profitability and brand consistency.

  • Monitor and manage incentive programs and performance recognition.

  • Partner with the Marketing Manager to align campaigns with sales initiatives, while maintaining distinct departmental ownership.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of hotel sales experience, with leadership responsibilities.

  • Luxury hotel or boutique property experience required.

  • Strong familiarity with the Houston market, especially Uptown, Galleria, and the surrounding districts.

  • Proficient in sales systems and tools used for CRM, sales pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, group booking optimization, and revenue performance analysis.

  • Skilled in creating and delivering persuasive presentations to a range of stakeholders.

  • Deep knowledge of luxury service standards and high-end client expectations.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a focus on measurable results.

  • Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and act decisively.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and poise.

  • A polished, approachable demeanor with a passion for hospitality, guest experience, and relationship-building.

  • The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.
