Summary of Job Duties: Position manages the day to day revenue cycle & Access outpatient operations of a service line or multiple service lines within the Integrated Revenue Cycle (IRC). Responsible for unit performance that meets or exceeds the unit standards as developed by the IRC Associate Director of Outpatient Access and Integrated Revenue Cycle Officer. Position serves in a support position to the service line(s) and will have a matrixed reporting relationship to the service line(s) administrator(s).
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business, Finance or related field PLUS five (5) years of experience in a hospital, outpatient healthcare facility, or community clinic setting with increasing responsibility OR High School Diploma/GED PLUS nine (9) years of experience in a hospital, outpatient healthcare facility, or community clinic setting with increasing responsibility

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience (can include management of Access/Revenue Cycle staff) in a clinic or hospital revenue cycle: patient scheduling, registration, coding, and/or billing. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience including personnel management and budget preparation
  • Receive CHAA certification within one (1) year from the date of hire
  • Requires advanced knowledge of EPIC and third-party payer requirements
  • Proficient in excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Medical Terminology preferred, Basic Coding preferred(CPC not required)

  • Promotes positive interaction with the medical staff.
  • Position will comply with all IRC, Integrated Clinical Enterprise, and UAMS policies and will ensure that direct and indirect reports comply as well.  
  • Position will serve as an advocate for enhanced revenue cycle performance within the unit.
  • Position supervises staff and ensures all Office of Human Resource policies and regulatory guidelines are followed.
  • Responsible for ensuring unit provides the highest level of customer service.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create an atmosphere which motivates employees to work at optimal efficiency.
  • Responsible for sharing on-call responsibility with other practice managers including off hours when needed.
  • Position serves as a role model for staff and fulfills both the general and role specific job duties as described below: Manages the day to day operations of the assigned Access Coordinators, Patient Representatives, and/or Access supervisors.
  • Staffs personnel to meet the departmental needs to include time & attendance oversight.  
  • Prioritizes workload daily and adjusts staffing model as needed to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Monitors staff performance through various methodologies including monthly quality/productivity audits.
  • Establishes performance standards with associate director.
  • Identifies relevant trends by reviewing available reports and initiates process improvement activity when warranted.
  • Recommends and leads continual process improvement activities to ensure excellence in Access & Revenue Cycle operations.
  • Accepts ownership for initiating new or enhanced process improvement projects once sanctioned by the associate director.
  • Ensures all departmental, IRC, ICE, and campus policies are followed within the unit.
  • Responsible for staff hiring, new employee on-boarding, employee evaluations, annual training, facilitates staff development, provides employee coaching and progressive discipline when necessary.
  • Promotes teamwork and role models the core concepts of PFCC.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings at least monthly. Conducts revenue cycle needs assessments and works with RIST team & ID's to establish training as needed.
  • Personally reviews all SL Access/Revenue cycle patient complaints and actively seeks resolution and/or service recovery.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction benchmark tools and in conjunction with the CSM or SL nursing director, develops action plans accordingly.
  • Demonstrates cost conscious awareness by comparing and analyzing clinic expenditures monthly and produces variance reporting as required.
  • Effectively utilizes staff, space, and supplies within budgetary restraints.
  • Participates in formal development of maintenance, capital equipment, and staff budgets for the service line(s) and revenue cycle.
  • Provides resident and medical student orientation and guidance as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of individual responsibility and ensures staff preparedness following established Joint Commission standards and facility safety and emergency preparedness standards.
  • Ensures a safe working environment by reporting maintenance, housekeeping and physical plant problems promptly.
  • Employee develops annual personal goals with associate director and seeks out continuing education with regards to regulatory changes and industry standards. Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
