The Genetic Counselor plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health.
Union Medical Group is seeking full-time experienced genetic counselor interested in both a clinical and educational opportunity.  This genetic counselor will continue to build the recently established independent genetic counseling clinic primarily focusing on cancer but with a willingness to participate in other indications such as cardiology and reproductive carrier screening. 

Location is on campus 

As the sole provider of genetic counseling services for nearly 100 miles, you will play a crucial role in meeting the diverse genetic counseling needs of our community. While cancer risk assessment represents the primary referral indication, we are committed to addressing other genetic concerns to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.

Genetic Counselor Details

Essential Job Duties:

  • Conducting comprehensive genetic counseling sessions.
  • Coordinating genetic testing and communicating results to both medical providers and patients.
  • Participate as a team member to assisting patients in obtaining appropriate management for their healthcare needs along with a Genetic Counselor Assistant.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records.
  • Attend and participate in specialty tumor boards and various department/hospital meetings as needed.
  • Promote educational outreach to the community and healthcare providers.
  • Involved with Maternal Modality Review
  • Attends Tumor conference e Attends Survivorship conferences
  • Attends Commission on Cancer quarterly meeting
  • Presents at the Oncology Conference yearly.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Genetic Counseling (typically MS in Genetic Counseling) from ACGC accredited genetic counseling program.
  • ABGC (American Board of Genetic Counselors) certification or Active Candidate State and subsequent genetic counselor licensed issued by the statue of Indiana.
  • 1 year of experience; cancer genetics highly preferred.
