Job Title               Applications Programmer

Duties:  Design, develop and implement a student data warehouse that supports analyses and drives business decisions for the institutional research unit of a multi-campus university system. Design and implement technical solutions for data acquisition, data analysis, data extraction, data transformation, data processing and data loading. Direct the selection of tools, methods, techniques and technologies and evaluation criteria for project results. Integrate data across multiple systems and domains. Interact with stakeholders to meet the needs of a complex organization with numerous campus locations. Develop new architectural components. Direct the development of data warehouse transformation code including ETL (extract, transform and load) programs. Translate functional requirements into technical mapping specifications for data integration projects. Develop and review data models for new projects, fixes and enhancements. Oversee the documentation of appropriate data definitions. Design and implement plans for the collection, cleansing, and normalization of education data to support management, reporting and decision making in areas of enrollment planning, policy creation and revision, program and campus budget reviews, statewide higher education studies and university operations. 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field. Five years of experience in job offered, or as a Data Analyst, Data Developer or a related occupational title. The following experience may be gained concurrently with the number of years of required experience, not in addition to: 5 years of experience writing SQL and PL/SQL queries; 5 years of experience performing data development, engineering solutions and developing IT documentations; 5 years of experience with Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) technologies including DataStage and Informatica. The following skills and experience does not require a set period of time as demonstration of proficiency: demonstrated experience coding software or deriving algorithms on technical platform; demonstrated experience recommending change development, maintenance and software standards and processes; demonstrated understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT concepts; demonstrated experience analyzing functional needs and how systems can support those needs; demonstrated experience developing conversion and system implementation plans; demonstrated experience utilizing code libraries and open-source forums to streamline coding process.
