This position provides administrative and procurement support to the SCM: Distribution & Logistics. Duties include, but are not limited to inventory management, invoice payment, initiating Oracle documents, reordering supplies, equipment management, customer service desk, and a wide variety of financial activities.


Job Summary

SCM: Distribution & Logistics is a multifunctional organization with four separate locations providing services to the Davis campus and medical-center community. It is comprised of the Aggie Surplus & Services, Mail Services, Central Receiving, SCM Stores, Microscope Services and related programs. The position is responsible for administrative and procurement activities for the department's business units.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position requires lifting up to 70 lbs. Ability to safely perform heavy tasks using continuous movement (e.g. stoop, bend, reach, twist; climb, squat, etc.) to lift and move cumbersome objects.
  • Work in busy customer areas with occasional loud noises.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.
  • Long periods of work sitting in front of a computer. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.
  • Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; work occasional overtime; work occasional varied lunch hours, and work occasional weekends and holidays. Restricted vacation during peak periods.
  • Remain flexible and willing to work/travel to UCDMC Mail Services in Sacramento. When assigned to work at UCDMC Mail Services, must participate in UCDMC's Medical Clearance Program that involves a TB skin test, and confirmation of immune status for measles, rubella, and varicella.
  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience with replenishment and inventory management concepts, systems, techniques, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with a wide range of computer software programs for data analytics (i.e. Excel), presentation, and communications.
  • Experience establishing priorities, organizing tasks, and completing projects timely and accurately.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Quantitative and analytical skills to recognize and calculate inventory adjustments, price discrepancies, and the steps necessary to fix them.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • Experience with accounting principles, procedures, and practices.
  • Experience with purchasing procedures in order to complete purchase orders and purchase requisitions accurately and completely (UC Davis preferred).
  • Experience with Oracle Financials.
  • Experience shipping commodities, including hazardous materials, via express carriers.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Knowledge and understanding of E-Procurement and Strategic Sourcing functions.
