Position Summary:   Under the supervision of the TDS Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for and perform a variety of maintenance duties for Transportation and Distribution Services buildings, parking lots/structures, equipment and vehicles in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required.

Required:  
  • The incumbent must have a valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning methods, materials, terminology and safe work practices of electrical, maintenance, and maintenance equipment and tools (i.e., hammers, drills, saws, levels, measuring tapes, power tools, etc.). 
  • Knowledge and skill of building and facilities maintenance principles and practices. 
  • Capable of interacting with a diverse population in a high-volume, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment. 
  • Knowledge of programming, troubleshooting and repairing a wide variety of equipment that incorporates both hardwired and wireless technologies. 
  • Able to work in a team environment; establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with coworkers, customers, vendors, contractors, and consultants. 
  • Able to stand for extended period of time, climb stairs, lift items exceeding 50 lbs., and perform a variety of “heavy labor” tasks. 
  • Able to understand basic mathematical calculations. 
  • Able to use wireless handheld devices and computers, with knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office Suite Able to use online facilities tools such as basecamp to ensure proper planning and timely completion of projects 
  • Capable of reporting adverse parking conditions and make suggestions on the appropriate corrective actions to be taken. 
  • Able to meet deadlines and complete projects. 
  • Able to work independently and to follow-through 
  • Able to work independently and to follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision
     
Preferred:  
  • Experience in parking facility maintenance and repair. 
  • Knowledge of UC/UCI policies and procedures. 
  • Familiarity with the UCI campus and campus parking. 
  • Considerable knowledge and skill of building and facilities maintenance principles and practices in several of the following areas: preventive maintenance and safety requirements for parking garages, building structural systems, waterproofing and concrete maintenance, expansion joint sealant systems, and various electrical systems. 
  • Knowledge of preventive asphalt maintenance and repair techniques including slurry sealing and infrared in-place asphalt restoration
     
Special Conditions Required:  
  • Final candidate is subject to background check and the California DMV Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program Notification. 
  • The incumbent must be able to climb stairs, lift items exceeding 50 lbs., and perform a variety of physically-strenuous tasks. 
  • The incumbent must be able to work occasional nights and weekends. 
  • The incumbent must be able to work outdoors, year-round, and in all weather conditions
