Position Summary:   Founded in 2017 with a $200 million gift from Orange County philanthropists Susan & Henry Samueli, UCI Health Affairs is a first of its kind health science enterprise and is unique to Orange County, Calif. Together, the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences and UCI Health form UCI Health Affairs, led by Vice Chancellor Steve Goldstein, MA, MD, PhD, FAAP. The 215,000-square-foot Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building (FLFMIB), part of the Health Sciences District, is scheduled to open in 2025. Made possible by a generous $30 million lead gift from Professor Robert Mah & Dr. Adeline Yen Mah's Falling Leaves Foundation, FLFMIB will be among the largest buildings on the West Coast dedicated to basic and translational research and training. The edifice's design embodies UCI's One Health no-silos approach to world-changing progress. Created in every aspect for collaborative “bench to bedside” research, elite teams of UCI investigators working on some of the world's most intractable health problems will join forces in leading-edge labs that facilitate groundbreaking multidisciplinary discovery. Twelve high-impact, interdisciplinary research programs have been selected for the new building and adjacent space. To enter the building, programs must have significant potential to transform the face of biomedical research, patient care and public health.
  Under minimal supervision of the Manager, VCHA Operations & Events and as needed direction from the Sr. Asst. dean of Administration, SOM the Building Manager oversees daily facilities and building organization for the soon-to-be-completed Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building and other buildings within the Health Sciences District. The Building Manager uses skills as a seasoned, experienced planning professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies and procedures and a full range of planning skills and expertise to resolve a wide range of issues; demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; and operates with considerable independence in concept planning, project definition and feasibility phases of major construction projects.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $81,900.00 - $150,500.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $81,900.00 - $150,500.00 (Annual Salary).
    Required:
 
  • 5 years of experience – or a combination of education and experience – in building or facilities management
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough working knowledge / skill in city planning, architecture, or other planning-related fields. 
  • Strong analytical skills. 
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen. 
  • Strong organizational skills. Wet lab, basic lab and office design skills
     
Preferred:  
  • Thorough knowledge of the organization, including its architectural history, short and long range development plans, infrastructure and current, on-going and proposed design and construction plans. 
  • Knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and or personnel management
     
Special Conditions Required:
  • Availability to respond to issues/concerns outside of regular business hours, including weekends  • Must pass a background check  • Work in the presence of hazardous chemicals/gases and biological materials.
