Position Summary: 

The Staff Nurse Leader oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the assigned shift.  Coordinates patient care activities by directing staff and functions on the unit, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.  Provides break relief coverage for the shift.  Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Functions as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients.

Salary Range: 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $66.01                  Midpoint   $78.31               Maximum $90.61

 

Required Qualifications:

 BSN Degree

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing                                                                               

Basic Fetal Monitoring Course Completion (Class certificate)

Baby Friendly Certification

Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring

Minimum of four years recent Perinatal nursing experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Unit, with at least two years in Labor & Deliver

Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Demonstrated understanding of patient classification system and staffing requirements for the patient population.

ANCC or NCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit, (general certifications, such as WCC, will not be acceptable for meeting this requirement).

Demonstrated understanding of patient acuity

Demonstrated ability to assign/align staffing assignments based on a patient's acuity and a nurse's competency and skill to care for a given acuity.

Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills by a minimum of four points in leadership roles/responsibilities within the last three years, which may be obtained through the following: Leadership of a project team with effective project outcome and implementation; Advanced degree (MSN) with a focus in leadership; Relief PCC; Qualified Preceptor; Leadership of a Practice Council or in a professional organization; House Supervisor; Membership in a professional development program, Quality Councils and/or PI Teams; Skin Prevalence Nurse; Teaching a class/skills lab or acting as a Clinical instructor; and/or success as an EPIC Superuser. Advanced Cardiac Life Support(Required)

Neonatal Resuscitation Program(Required)

Registered Nurse(Required)

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor of Science, Nursing

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
