Department Purpose

Assist the head women's lacrosse coach in all aspects of an NCAA Division I women's lacrosse program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps, and administration of the women's lacrosse program in full compliance with NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. The University of California, Davis sponsors 23 sports for men and women and is a member of NCAA Division I. The Lacrosse Program is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.


Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Women's Lacrosse Head Coach, assist in all aspects of an NCAA Division I women's lacrosse program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics, and administration of the women's lacrosse program in full compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Complete and pass the National Collegiate Athletic Association Recruiting Examination per NCAA bylaw 13.1.2 (Permissible Recruiting) before recruiting. Current CPR & First Aid certification or must obtain within 30 days from date of hire and be certified bi-annually. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.

 

  • In accordance with UC Davis Athletics' hiring process for coaches, UC Davis will require any head coach or assistant coach final candidate(s) to sign an authorization for a reference check. Pursuant to your signed authorization form, we will inquire with your prior institution(s) about any records of substantiated misconduct.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

 

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Coaching and/or playing experience in the sport of lacrosse, preferably at the collegiate level.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

 

  • Knowledge of the rules and strategies of lacrosse. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary for student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.

 

Preferred:

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes. These include UC Davis, conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.
