Position Summary:

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for supporting the IT needs of UC Irvine Campus faculty, students, and staff. Our mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education, and community service goals of the University. The Application Infrastructure team is responsible for providing a variety of "software as a service" offerings as shared services to both external and internal groups.

Under the general supervision of the Production and Release Supervisor, the Collaboration Platform Engineer applies working experience, knowledge, and OIT, UCI, and OP policies/procedures to install, configure and resolve a variety of complex issues in integration and automation of software/applications. Analyzes complex issues within defined procedures and practices and determines appropriate action. As the Collaboration Platform Engineer, you will set up, configure, manage, and support automation and integration infrastructure/services, such as Google Workspace, Confluence, JIRA, and other software offerings. Works with upstream/downstream system owners and technical staff to ensure service availability. Acts as a technical/project lead, during upgrades or implementation of new and existing services. Coordinates and manages the team's technical efforts related to planning, analysis, development, testing, and deployment in support of OIT initiatives.

$81,900.00 - $150,500.00 (Annual Salary)

 

Required:

Three (3) to five (5) years with BA/BS OR one (1) to three (3) years with MA/MS OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Broad knowledge of various areas of IT. Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification, and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing software/applications. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and integration issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination, and analysis. Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and services to meet business needs. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software, and networks. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills for integration software, software automation, and application services. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how service management actions affect other services, developers, and dependent / related functions. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Experience with Google Workspace Administration and Google Workspace API. Working knowledge with Bash and Python

 

Preferred:

Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases. Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion. Familiarity with data/log quality and governance issues and requirements. Working knowledge with other programming languages, such as Java, PHP, Perl. Experience with shared services such as monitoring and logging. Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies. Experience with automation and integration tools, such as ActiveMQ, GoAnywhere MFT, OpenLDAP, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Ansible.
