Department Summary:

The Sierra Foothill Research & Extension Center (SFREC) provides land, labor and facilities for agricultural research studies and Cooperative Extension educational activities for the benefit of Californians throughout the State. The Center has 5,720 acres and 50,000 sq. ft. of improved facilities. The Center supports a herd of 500 beef cattle, including 350 cows, used for research. SFREC has 1 resident researcher, supports 25 off-station researchers and 34 research projects.

Position Summary:

 

University series concepts/job specification for Custodian. Under supervision, incumbents perform unskilled or semiskilled cleaning, housekeeping or general maintenance. Performs individually or as part of a team. Incumbents may experience a varying degree of contact with the public depending on the nature, location and assigned hours of work.

 

This position is a limited term appointment that is 20% variable.

 

Pay Scale: $19.47/hour to $20.97/hour

Key Responsibilities:

40%

Vacuum and mop floors, clean counters and wipe down tables and chairs and clean bathrooms and wash windows in the Conference Room and Office

25%

Vacuum and mop floors, clean counters wash mattress covers, clean bathrooms and wash windows in the Dorm

25%

Vacuum and mop floors, clean counters wash mattress covers and clean bathrooms in the overflow Dorm

10%

Light maintenance, changing lightbulbs and air filters, mowing, minor repairs as needed in dorm, house and office

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle.
  • The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check. This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities.  UC ANR does hire people with conviction histories and reviews information received in the context of the job responsibilities.
