Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Cytology Supervisor, the Cytotechnologist examines and evaluates cell samples for the presence or absence of normal/abnormal cellular patterns, inflammatory reactions, presence of microorganisms, and pre-malignant and malignant changes. Processes and prepares all specimens, such as bronchial washing/brushing, urine, body fluids, cerebrospinal fluids, fine needle aspiration, etc., for cytodiagnostic procedures. The Cytotech records cytology/histology correlations, determines specimens and tissues to be correlated, searches files and records, and assembles and prepares complete documentation for physician review. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
Hourly Rate Minimum $48.43 Midpoint $53.15 Maximum $57.87
Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed
Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Must be ASCP registered and have a current California license
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must pass the slide review exam set by the department
Strong recommendation from training or previous employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Cytology training in a hospital setting
Previous experience in a hospital setting
