Position Summary:   The University of California Irvine's Center for Educational Partnerships (CFEP) creates collaborations that support preparation for and success in higher education. Our focus is on equity and access for all students in order to achieve the University of California's goal of academic excellence. As the University of California's largest academic preparation program, EAOP helps students in underserved schools prepare for college and the work force by completing all UC and California State University admissions requirement, and apply for college and financial aid. Through a series of collaborative strategies that include Academic Enrichment Programs, Academic Advising, Test Preparation, and Parent Engagement; EAOP is position to develop the next generation of university scholars.
  Under direction of higher-level K-14 Academic Preparation Specialist, works with assigned institutions and organizations to implement academic preparation programming of moderate scope. Maintains program visibility in schools. Maintains collaborative relationships with K-14 institutions and / or community entities. Maintains relationships with higher education institutions.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $24.72 - $24.72 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $24.71 - $41.86 (Hourly Rate).

Required:  
  • Two years of experience working for outreach efforts in a university setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. 
  • Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. 
  • Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. 
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to research and develop program presentation and materials. 
  • Required Ability to train and supervise undergraduate student staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to present/speak before a large group.
     
Preferred:  
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts 
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Vietnamese/English language skills
     
Special Conditions Preferred:  
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple locations/school sites in one day.
