Position Summary: 

Under the general direction of the Manager for EHS & Emergency Management, the EHS Supervisor applies professional knowledge and expertise in day-to-day management of occupational safety programs supporting UCI Health locations.,. Responsible for developing, managing, maintaining and (as needed) implementing the Illness and Injury Prevention Program Programs overseen such as Cal/OSHA required programs, including, but not limited to: respiratory protection, indoor environmental quality (IEQ), office safety and ergonomics, safe patient handling, fall prevention, confined space safety, driver safety, hearing conservation, heat illness prevention, and blood borne pathogen protection under the umbrella of the IIPP. Assess injury root cause in collaboration with employee health case managers, consultants/physicians and operational leaders; track and provide a variety of reports demonstrating program effectiveness, prevention value, as well as applicable risk reduction; work with material management to facilitate the timely purchase and distribution of appropriate and recommended equipment; and, collaborate with the design and construction management team to modify current existing work spaces and the plan of new work spaces.  Will also perform the day-to-day responsibilities of supervision and oversite of staff.

Salary Range: 

 

Annual Rate  Minimum  $90,500.00            Midpoint      $130,100.00              Maximum              $169,700.00

 

Required Qualifications:

 

 

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the organization.

Knowledge of and experience using computer software (databases, spreadsheets, powerpoint, and word processing) programs

Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules including nights and weekends

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Knowledge of principles of occupational health, safety and environmental protection

Current State of California Driver's License

Thorough knowledge / understanding of specific EH&S field(s) including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge / understanding of all EH&S fields.

4-7 years of professional experience within EH&S; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Health, Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Allied Health, or related scientific field and/or equivalent training and experience.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator and full coveralls. Ability to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards

Experience in implementing safety programs, policies and procedures, training/ information, reporting and record keeping programs.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Healthcare experience

Knowledge and practice Environment of Care

Knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8 subchapter 7. regulatory requirements and General Industry Regulations 29 CFR Part 1910

Health & Safety Specialist Certificate

Cal/OSHA 10 or 30 Hours General Industry.

ASP, CHSP, CHMM, CSP, CIH certification.

TJC knowledge and experience.
