DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

As a security first organization, Technology Delivery Services (TDS) is part of the Information Technology (IT) Department. The TDS teams include Information Security, Planning (architecture and PMO), Application Development, HR & Payroll Development, Infrastructure, and Client Services teams. We maintain an innovative, inclusive, and supportive work environment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Information Security intern will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of cybersecurity and develop a high-level understanding of relevant concepts, processes, and technologies. Under management supervision, the intern will play an important role in protecting UCOP systems and data from emerging cyber threats. The Information Security Intern will experience the day-to-day life of a member of our security team. 

 

This role is 100% remote within CA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ongoing projects and InfoSec team initiatives.
  • Assist with administration or maintenance of security and risk management tools. 
  • Maintain staff-facing Information Security awareness resources (e.g., posting relevant security news and events to the Information Security SharePoint site).
  • Prepare and/or modify documentation.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a similar discipline.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled University of California student.
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of information security.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills.

 

Education

  • High school graduate and/or equivalent experience/training.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $25.00 hourly.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This student internship is fully remote.  This full-time (40 hours/week) summer internship position will last for the duration of the summer (end of May through mid-September).
