Department Overview
The Office of Loan Programs is the systemwide source of mortgage lending products for eligible faculty and senior managers. The Office of Loan Programs designs, delivers and manages housing assistance programs for the recruitment and retention of faculty and senior managers in support of the education, research and public service missions of the University of California. We strive to maintain superior customer satisfaction by providing timely, accurate and cost-effective mortgage products, researching new product alternatives and evaluating industry processes and changes to continually improve delivery of services.

Position Summary
The Loan Origination Officer 2 (Funder) provides support in implementing the loan origination policies and procedures associated with the University of California's Housing Assistance Program, uses developing knowledge of loan origination concepts to complete funding and processing of mortgage loan applications, assembles supporting documentation associated with the loan process, completes all related documentation of loan files, prepares and reviews loan funding figures, and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Responsibilities include compiling documentation associated with loan application materials, interacting with title and escrow officers and other professionals associated with the loan process, providing excellent customer service to loan applicants, assisting in the preparation of loan documents and following up for documentation associated with the loan funding process. This position is an "Assigned Employee" as defined in The University of California Home Loan Program Corporation Services Agreement (Services Agreement) dated February 1, 2014, by and between the Regents of the University of California and the University of California Home Loan Program Corporation (Corporation), a California non-profit public benefit corporation. The Corporation was formed to assume the residential lending activities of the Office of Loan Programs.

Key Responsibilities

·       70% Loan Funding

o    Completes loan funding functions in accordance with program processes, guidelines, deadlines, lender's funding instructions, which include: 1. Sending loan documents to escrow via established secure method; Ordering and obtaining final evidence of insurance and other conditions as necessary. 2. Reviewing and managing loan funding pipeline and executed loan funding packages and working with escrow and other parties to obtain outstanding funding conditions in a timely manner; reviewing all conditions to ensure it meets loan requirements; coordinate and confirming requested funding dates with escrow; Submit files for funding approvals in a timely manner and within established deadlines. 3. Preparing and submitting files for funding approvals within established deadlines and in accordance with lender's funding instructions, processes and guidelines; verifying escrow's wire instructions, accurately calculating and preparing the loan funding wire for approval in the financial system; completing final data entry and document upload in the Loan Origination System and providing the loan file to Loan Servicing in a timely manner.

·       15% Post Closing

o    Completing post-closing review of the loan file to ensure the loan file is complete and original signed loan documents have been received. Tracking outstanding post-closing conditions, including follow up repair items to ensure they are received in a timely manner and evaluates conditions received to confirm they satisfy the condition and are signed off accordingly.

·       10% Loan Processing

o    Providing backup support in loan processing functions, including setting up initial loan file, entering key data fields in the Loan Origination System, and analyzing data to ensure that outputs are consistent with inputs. Reviews and evaluates loan application materials to ensure that the applicants and the subject property are in compliance with all Program eligibility and financial qualifying guidelines. Maintains regular contact with loan applicants, realtors, appraisers, escrow and title companies, and campus loan program contacts. Provides excellent customer service to all contacts associated with the loan process.

·       5% Strategic Planning

o    Working with the Origination team members, contributes suggestions for changes to the loan origination processes, provides assistance to the processors/funder counterparts when needed, other duties as assigned.

Experience
Required Qualifications

·       Min 2 years to 3 years experience in a mortgage lending environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications

·       Mortgage loan funding and/or processing.

·       Ability to perform basic math functions and financial analysis.

·       Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in all areas: telephone, e-mail and written correspondence.

·       Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

·       Interpersonal skills and initiative as demonstrated by the ability to respond positively and proactively to requests.

·       Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and hard deadlines.

·       Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Developing familiarity with standard mortgage industry loan origination systems.

·       Developing knowledge of standard single-family lending, title insurance, hazard insurance, flood insurance and escrow practices in California.

·       Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System.

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This position has been approved for a hybrid work arrangement. The person hired will be required to reside in the state of California and may be asked to report to work on-site at UC's Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA at least two days per week, subject to change.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $70,000 - $81,000, commensurate with experience.
