Job Description

 Essential Duties:

1. Displays competence in using special telephone functions (conference call, dictation line, transferring calls, etc.)

2. Follows proper procedure when scheduling examinations, gives proper instructions to patients and provides educational materials for appropriate examinations.

3. Follows proper procedure for patients who do not have physician orders, whose orders may be unclear or who do not have an appointment.

4. Follows proper protocol to relay messages to all diagnostic imaging personnel

5. Competently pages radiology personnel or physicians for call backs and follows established protocols and guidelines.

6. Competently processes patient requisitions according to department protocol, determines the proper order in which to process requests and distributes to proper area.

7. Competently and accurately schedules patient examinations at appropriate times, demonstrates knowledge of these examinations and obtains supervisor approval for additional time slots.

8. Competently and accurately finds and reads reports via telephone to physician's or their office, faxes reports as needed and follows up for any additional information needed.

9. Displays competence in maintaining radiology records including film check out, filing reports or jackets and distributing reports to nursing units.

10. Follows proper department procedure in typing flashcards, puck stickers, and using downtime request forms.

11. Accurately types and processes the radiology daily schedules according to established guidelines.

12. Displays competence in use of all equipment utilized by front office personnel including computer programs, printers, copying machine, typewriter and fax.

13. Follows department protocol when equipment malfunctions and can do some trouble-shooting as is appropriate.

14. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

Required: Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum Experience: Medical office experience preferred.

Preferred Skills and Abilities: Knows basic computer skills, can type accurately (although speed is not an issue), knows alphabet and numbering system in order to file accurately, exhibits enhanced communications skills to deal with a variety of customer types, is personable and out-going. Familiarity with medical terminology.
