Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: Member Services, Live Well, Recreation Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Aquatics, Outdoor Adventures, Youth Programs and the UC Davis Marching Band.
Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, serve as the Assistant Director for Aquatics and Youth Programs within the Department of Campus Recreation. Establish and maintain working relationships with direct reports. Support staff in adapting existing programs and services to provide inclusive opportunities. In partnership with program coordinators, manage a comprehensive Aquatics and Youth Programs portfolio of recreational programming. Develop, prepare and manage the budgets for assigned programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/ training.
- Must have a minimum of three years' experience managing recreation programs in a university, municipal, non-profit or private setting including, aquatics, and/or youth programs.
- Knowledge of staff management principles and theories and leadership and supervisory experience to select, supervise, motivate, and evaluate employees, including students, relative to work performance, crisis management, and peer relationships.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of basic safety and risk management practices as they related to collegiate recreation programs, facilities and services.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and varied organizational levels within and outside of the University; ability to foster a positive climate among a diverse group of staff, student employees and participants.
- Budgeting skills to develop, oversee and manage multiple, assigned program budgets, and to prioritize use of funds.
- Oral and written communication skills to prepare concise, yet comprehensive presentations before small and large audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Lifeguard (LG)
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
- Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT)
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in related area or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in collegiate recreation setting.
- Experience with CampDoc, Innosoft Fusion or other recreation management software.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet work assignments, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
