DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Research Grants Program Office (RGPO) oversees a broad grant making portfolio of over $100 million a year to support research that is critical to California, the nation and the world. RGPO programs enhance UC's research capacity and excellence, which helps attract top faculty, graduate students, government funding and companies to our state. These grants also enable health researchers and community agencies to collaborate and solve the most pressing problems in the state. RGPO also provides grants for training undergraduates, graduate and postdoctoral researchers, whose work will benefit California communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Assist with closing out awards, following up/processing return of funds, following up/processing return of interest

·       Follow-up on delinquent deliverables which could include progress reports and/or financial reports

·     Review scientific progress reports on RGPO-funded research projects to ensure that all necessary report elements are included and acceptable

·       Analyze fiscal reports for accuracy and compliance with RGPO and or research program specific rules and regulations and independently accepts fiscal reports

·       Assist with other Post Award special projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·    Two or more years of work experience or equivalent experience/training in pre and/or post-award contracts and grants administration, administrative analysis, operational research in an academic or non-profit setting

·       Understanding of research administration and the grant life cycle

·       Experience managing small to six figures dollar research portfolio

·       Ability to manage significant volume of transactions

·       Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting

·      Demonstrated competency in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports

·      Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to prioritize work and complete projects/tasks in an accurate and timely manner under pressure of deadlines

·       Proficiency with business computer applications including MS Office Suite, databases, electronic mail, and the Internet

·       Familiarity with Zoom or other video conferencing programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Attention to detail with complex grant transactions

·       Ability to collaborate with multiple units within the department in a timely and professional manner

EDUCATION

·        Bachelor's degree and two years' experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement within the state of California. 

OR

This position is eligible for a hybrid/remote work arrangement within the state of California. The selected candidate must reside within the state of California, or be willing to relocate, and will be required to report to work in person in Oakland, CA on a regular schedule.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the salary grade for a position. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position,

PayScale/ budgeted hourly range: $33.57/hour - $46.65/hour, Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

Full Hourly Range: $33.57/hour - $59.72/hour
