UTMB was established in 1891 as the first academic health center in Texas and is a component of the University of Texas System. Today UTMB includes four schools (medicine, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical sciences), a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, and numerous research facilities. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class and 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB.
UTMB also provides medical services through our Community Based Clinics (CBC's) which are located along the I-45 corridor in cities such as; Clear Lake, Friendswood, League City, Webster, Texas City, etc.
The UTMB Departments of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine:
Core Faculty: The UTMB Departments of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine are actively recruiting Family Practice and Internal Medicine physicians interested in not only a clinical practice but also have a desire to train, mentor and develop UTMB residents. Any additional faculty interests are also encouraged.
Clinical Faculty: The UTMB Community Based Clinics (CBC's) are actively recruiting Family Practice and Internal Medicine Physicians interested in working in our Community Based Clinics. These clinics offer a unique out-patient practice experience with exceptional patient care and support.
- M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree
- Board certification in a clinical medicine discipline such as Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Texas Medical License or ability to obtain such license
