POSITION SUMMARY: To provide quality sonography services to the patients of Memorial Katy Cardiology Associates through collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team. Supports the goals and objectives of Memorial Katy Cardiology Associates.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs routine 2D/Doppler echocardiograms and vascular exams (procedures include but are not limited to carotid, arterial, venous for DVT and venous for Reflux). Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Familiar with EMR to ensure the correct test is ordered, accurately input the correct billing codes for the test, and prepares preliminary echocardiogram and vascular reports with measurements for physicians.
  • Adequately explain the test to the patient and provide quality patient care.
  • Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts Technical Support for major malfunctions.
  • Knowledge and routine use of digital image storage system (Ultralinq) and associated workflow software.
  • Must adhere to the protocols and actively participate in the departmental QA program and accreditation process.
  • Maintain CME's, CPR, and registries necessary to perform job duties as a registered sonographer.
  • Fill in for ablations, as needed.
  • Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality
  • Adheres to the company's mission statement and core values.
QUALIFICATIONS

Certificates & Licenses: Credentialed in Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS) and Vascular Technology (RVT or RVS), Current BLS certification

Experience: Minimum of one year experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sonographers must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination and dexterity sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel/crouch as well as to stand and walk, spending many hours on his/her feet. Good eyesight and hearing, manual dexterity, and a full range of body motion required. Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time. May require occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is in a fast-paced medical office environment. Working conditions are usually pleasant with the primary work environment being conducted in air- conditioned, well-lit exam rooms and office space. The work environment may include exposure to hazardous material, including bodily fluids and cleaning reagents, acutely ill patients, bloodborne pathogens, and communicable diseases.
Given these conditions employees are required to wear protective garments and must strictly adhere to safety policies.
The Sonographer position requires the employee to work with other members of staff to coordinate patient care. It is essential that the Sonographer takes instruction well and interacts with other employees in a positive manner to fulfill the duties of the job.
