The successful candidate for this role should be passionate to serve as a connection between the university and alumni, friends, and donors for the Division of Student Affairs. They should possess a passion for higher education and a commitment to the mission of UT Dallas and the Division of Student Affairs. The successful candidate should be excited to join a successful, collaborative, open-minded, and trust-filled environment that builds and manages philanthropic and community partnerships with alumni, friends, and donors through various activities, events, and communications platforms. They should have a high level of respect for all people and maintain a standard of customer service that emphasizes the importance of relationships. The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations for Student Affairs should be intellectually curious and committed to continuously improving their leadership, skills, and knowledge.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in related field and three plus years relevant professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree and three to five years of development experience. Experience with alumni relations, donor relationships, and high-level relationships is preferred. Candidates must also possess outstanding speaking, writing, and time-management skills. The position requires occasional evening/weekend hours and some travel. Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Working closely with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and serving as a liaison between alumni, friends, donors and the University, the Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations will:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies to engage and cultivate alumni and friends with an interest in philanthropic support of the Division of Student Affairs at UT Dallas.
  • Create and execute fundraising and alumni relations plans to accomplish goals with financial discipline and sustainability.
  • Plan, implement and track the effectiveness of activities, events and communications that engage alumni, friends, and donors (i.e., speaking opportunities, networking, receptions, etc.)
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of individual prospective and current supporters, documenting activity in the university's management database.
  • Assist in meeting with individuals, foundations and corporations with the capacity and interest to make a philanthropic commitment in support of the University and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Travel as needed throughout North Texas and other regions where potential donors are located.

Remote Work Notice:
Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Use of personal computers and other standard office equipment may be required. Must be located within the State of Texas (or Must be located within the DFW Area) and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.
