Description

This position completes daily insurance verification/authorization for proposed services and patient notification for estimated payments due. The position works with clinicians—audiologists and speech language pathologists, and schedules patients in the Practice Management database. The person hired will demonstrate the highest degree of accuracy and readability for all work and team projects.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED
One to three years patient insurance verification experience
One to three years working with commercial insurance; Medicare and Medicaid.

Preferred Education and Experience

Two years of college and three to five years related patient insurance verification experience; previous experience working with prior authorizations; knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid insurances.

The ideal candidate will be self-initiating and require minimum supervision as well as outstanding customer service and support skill. The candidate will have a professional demeanor along with acceptance of accountability for work produced; dedication to quality and timeliness, and excellent organizational skills.

Conversational/Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform financial verification of insurance eligibility and benefits to determine payment responsibility
  • Ensure all payer forms, notification and authorizations are completed within the required timeframe
  • Calculate accurate patient financial responsibility
  • Document patient information in billing database according to the insurance verification guidelines to assure accurate and timely reimbursement
  • Interpret payer coverage information including network participation status with provider, limited plan coverage and inactive benefits
  • Above listed verifications and payer coverage interpretation responsibilities to include but not be limited to Health Insurances such as: commercial, governmental, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.
  • Serve as backup to medical schedulers and patient check-in/check-out as needed
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication to internal and external constituents

This position is located at the Callier Richardson office. Work performed will be onsite and in person.
