Description

The Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas invites applications for a part-time lecturer to teach Real Estate Principles, a foundational undergraduate course for students pursuing a concentration in Real Estate Finance alongside their business degree. This face-to-face course introduces students to real estate acumen and core concepts of real estate including careers in real estate, leases, property management, finance, development, law, investment, and appraisal. The course is approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission for 45 hours towards the initial sales agent license.

Minimum Education and Experience

An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline/topic and a record of productivity and professional achievement.



Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proven experience in the real estate industry (finance, brokerage, appraisal, development, etc.)
  • Prior teaching or training experience at the undergraduate level preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative teaching style
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We seek a dynamic real estate professional with progressive teaching experience and a deep passion for industry to inspire and mentor undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will bring real-world experience, foster student engagement with real-world examples, and encourage continued study in the Real Estate Finance concentration.

Two sections are typically offered as a 15-week course in the spring and fall semesters:
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM & Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, in-person lectures aligned with the established syllabus
  • Introduce students to diverse career paths in real estate
  • Facilitate discussions, case studies, and guest speaker sessions
  • Evaluate student performance through quizzes and participation
  • Promote academic integrity and professional conduct

Prepare and teach undergraduate classes and/or labs;
Maintain contact with student population in the classroom and via electronic learning platforms (eLearning);
Contribute assessment information and data as requested through the administration and the Assessment Team;
Participate in course evaluation surveys.

Additional Information

Lecturers teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate sections in a given term. Appointments carry no guarantee or expectation of renewal or tenure.
