Job Summary

This is a blended position that combines the roles of Occupational Health Workers' Compensation Case Manager and Drug and Alcohol Testing Coordinator. The individual in this role will serve as the primary liaison between the onsite clinic, employees, Workers' Compensation carriers, and other relevant providers. The position involves facilitating the timely and appropriate healthcare services for injured workers, ensuring their safe return-to-work and maximum functional recovery. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for conducting drug and alcohol tests as per site procedures and relevant regulations, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and DOT standards.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:30am - 1:00pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initial Contact and Case Coordination: Serve as the first point of contact for injured workers, employers, providers, and other stakeholders upon case assignment. Clearly communicate the case management role and the rationale for involvement.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain regular communication with adjusters, employers, medical providers, and other involved parties through phone, email, and written reports. Ensure the adjuster is up-to-date on case developments and obtain necessary approvals for services.
  • Advocacy and Education: Act as an advocate for the injured worker, promoting privacy, safety, and empowerment throughout the case. Provide support, information, and education to enhance understanding of the treatment plan and recovery process.
  • Care Coordination: Organize care through collaboration with on-site management, medical staff, and external providers. Ensure that appropriate medical treatment and referrals are made in a timely manner.
  • Return-to-Work (RTW) Coordination: Work with injured employees and their healthcare providers to establish and track RTW goals, ensuring safe and timely return-to-work plans and clearances. Ensure appropriate medical documentation and progress reporting.
  • Treatment and Outcome Monitoring: Assess treatment plans against evidence-based guidelines to ensure appropriate and effective care. Address potential risks for delayed recovery and find solutions to minimize obstacles that could delay RTW.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records on the treatment and case progression. Regularly update stakeholders, providing reports as necessary.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Identify and address inefficiencies or excessive medical care to ensure cost-effective outcomes. Ensure compliance with workers' compensation regulations, medical standards, and company policies.
  • Independent Work and Flexibility: Manage caseload independently, adhering to established procedures and standards. Flexibility to work outside of normal hours when required due to the unpredictable nature of workloads.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Responsibilities:

  • Collection of Samples: Perform oral fluid, urine drug, and breath alcohol testing according to site protocols.
  • Compliance with Standards: Adhere to DOT and HIPAA guidelines for drug and alcohol testing, ensuring all testing procedures meet regulatory standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of testing and reporting results in compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Case Management Certification (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in Idaho Workers' Compensation and case management processes
  • Certification in Disability Management (desired)
  • High School diploma or GED, with 1-3 years of related experience in a healthcare or case management setting. CNA certification is a plus.

  • Customer Service: Ability to interact professionally and empathetically with injured workers and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient Computer Skills: Competence in Windows OS, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the ability to learn additional software as needed.

Physical Demands

  • The position requires sitting for extended periods, some bending, stretching, and working under stress. Occasional standing, walking, or stooping may be required. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and climb stairs is necessary.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding and use of office equipment is essential.
  • Ability to kneel for extended periods to provide emergency care, including CPR if necessary.

Work Environment

  • This role primarily takes place in an indoor office or clinic setting with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature.
  • Some exposure to medical clinic conditions may be present.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to meet daily and weekly performance goals.
  • Maintain a professional approach in multitasking and project support situations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including over scheduled shifts, depending on workload demands.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with company policies and procedures, demonstrating strong clinical judgment.

 

This position has an hourly pay range of $22 - $25 per hour. Final compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
