Position Summary:
This is safety sensitive position
The Material Handler II receives stores, recycles, ships, and transports warehoused goods and products by performing the basic duties of a Material Handler I as well as the Primary Responsibilities outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities (60 % or more time in one or more of the following):
- Operates motorized equipment, including, but not limited to forklift, clamp, (see required certifications), cherry-pickers, motorized pallet jack, etc.
- Utilizes RF (Radio Frequency) equipment to track product.
- Disassembles, reassembles, or repairs products, materials or equipment.
- Sorts, bales, weighs, loads, and recycles materials based on customer specifications.
Basic Duties of Material Handler I:
- Reads production schedule, load slip, manifest, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be received, moved, or distributed.
- Conveys materials and products from one designated area to another by hand or various types of non-motorized material handling equipment.
- May occasionally operate motorized equipment such as fork lift, hand truck, cherry picker, clamp, pallet jack, etc.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Opens cartons, crates, and other containers. Unpacks/packs and wraps merchandise.
- Utilizes RF (Radio Frequency) equipment to track product.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels, or marks information on cartons or other containers.
- Complies with safety rules, standard operating procedures, and housekeeping as required and carefully watches machines and equipment to ensure safe environment.
- Fills shipping orders for various customers' products to prepare for shipping.
Education and Experience
- Sufficient formal education to read, comprehend, and act upon verbal and written information.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or six months related experience preferred.
- Fork Lift Certification if primarily assigned that equipment.
