POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Learning and Development will strategically lead the direction of global employee learning and development activities across the company, and will be instrumental in fostering a strong and positive employee culture. The role will evaluate existing learning programs for impact and alignment with functional needs, and provide recommendations for learning experiences that increase reach, impact, and future capability requirements. The position creates, executes, and sustains a learning and development strategy focused on deploying programs that lead to significant positive organizational results, including improved employee performance and increased engagement and retention. The position requires creativity, strong knowledge of both content and instructional design, the use of technology-enhanced learning, and the newest thinking on adult learning. The position uses leadership assessment and development tools and programs to increase leadership capabilities and develop succession management for the organization. This role serves as an influential leader, a promoter of inclusion, and an internal advisor to provide strategies, solutions, training, tools, resources, and thought leadership on diversity and inclusion to the workforce.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Learning & Development (L&D)

  • Assess, design, develop, and manage innovative, sustainable learning solutions, tools, resources, and programs, using multiple platforms, to address the L&D needs across the company
  • Utilize best practices in learning theory, change management, and communication (e.g. blended solutions, manuals, program guides, toolkits etc.)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all L&D solutions, measure return on investment, and track business impact, completing ad hoc reporting as necessary
  • Research and recommend outside vendors to conduct training on specific topics, including online training and live training when appropriate; research, lead, and oversee the Company's learning management software (LMS) solutions, and continually develop and enhance the Company's use of technology related to the L&D function
  • Manage all aspects of multi-dimensional projects including planning (on-time completion), meeting budget, ensuring role clarity, and clearly articulating milestones
  • Design/select and deliver management and leadership training, targeting current and future leaders; research, recommend, and implement methods of identifying, developing, and retaining top talent (such as high-potential programs, mentoring program etc.)
  • Provide professional skills training and workshops to meet customized Company and departmental needs; evaluate and provide compliance-based training; and manage the development and ongoing delivery of business-related training largely led by subject matter experts within the organization
  • Partner with the departmental teams on projects related to various organizational development initiatives, such as organizational design, succession planning, engagement, and recognition; facilitate training and meetings as needed (both small and large group)
  • Oversee the new-hire onboarding program and training; assist in creating/developing/delivering company orientation, and help ensure a well-organized, positive onboarding experience

Culture:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business and help foster a positive and inclusive company culture
  • Partner with department leaders and the broader leadership team to facilitate organization and culture initiatives, ensuring we nurture our core culture while we continue to grow on a global scale
  • Develop programs that involve full culture and values immersion for all current and new employees, including strong focus on field immersion
  • Provide vision, leadership, coordination, and strategic planning for the design and implementation of global diversity & inclusion programs
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to increase workforce readiness, retention, and engagement
  • Develop and manage professional groups, speakers, and events, that provide opportunities for minorities, women, veterans, disabled, etc.
  • Establish and oversee effective employee recognition efforts
  • Own/oversee employee engagement surveys
  • Own/oversee Affirmative Action Plan and EEO/VETS reporting
  • Establish community connections that ensure the Company is active, relevant, and desirable

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with 10+ years of demonstrated progressive experience as an HR/L&D professional
  • Strong background with a strategic focus in L&D, including experience designing and delivering training programs on a global basis
  • Background in talent and organizational development, and a firm grasp of how these impact company performance; previous successful experience coaching and assessing individuals within a given framework, enabling them to develop their skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; engaging as a facilitator; strong organizational and time-management skills; critical thinker and decision-maker, culturally competent, self-aware, organized and adaptable
  • Excellent people skills, demonstrated success building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships; demonstrated ability to motivate others; ability to effectively interface with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with managers and business leaders in an influential manner; comfortable interacting at all levels within the company
  • Desire to continually improve process and research and implement best practices
  • A team player with the ability and willingness to pitch in as needed in areas outside one's own core expertise
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver results
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Ability to travel 15%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-graduate studies preferred
  • Advanced certification(s) related to field of study preferred (i.e. ATD certification)
  • PHR/SPHR certification
  • Supervisory experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as required
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
