The Space Systems (S2) product line of C4ISR Systems, a business area within BAE Systems Electronic Systems sector has an exciting opportunity for a Contract Manager II to join the Space Systems organization. This is an opportunity to act as a trusted business partner for one of the leading companies that provides innovative solutions to DoD, Civil, and Commercial & Intelligence Missions. Based in Hudson, NH, as Contracts Manager II you will lead a team of experienced contracting professionals and provide support to the Space Systems product line. Work products and interactions will be at multiple levels, from your Contracts team, to the Space Systems leadership teams, as well as business area and sector leadership teams. This position includes providing leadership to a geographically dispersed team of contracting professionals at all career levels (Manassas, VA, Hudson NH, Merrimack NH).

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Management of personnel and development plans for future growth
  • Assignment of contracts team workload to appropriate program offices
  • Develop negotiation strategies, objectives and take action necessary to resolve any impasses between BAE Systems and its customers
  • Develop solutions to complex contracting and business issues, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensure solutions are consistent with organization strategic and operational objectives
  • Active involvement with internal requests for bid and proposal reviews
  • Consistently work on and provide guidance on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues as well as an understanding and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to interact with the team to gather, interpret, analyze, develop and recommended strategies and present information
  • Compliance with Company policies and procedures, legal, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Prepare, negotiate and manage complex proposals/contracts across domestic environments
  • Cross functional collaboration with Program Management, Product Development, Legal, Finance and Operations teams
  • Engage with management regularly to inform of critical issues and escalate when necessary
  • Working with customers to shape and close business opportunities in concert with internal objectives for the Space Systems (S2) product lines
  • Undertake special assignments as required and perform others duties as assigned
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of, and experience with, FAR and DFAR and export regulations
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property and policies
  • Independently lead and manage proposal activities including, analysis of solicitations, developing strategies and recommendations, preparing terms and conditions, reviewing the technical and pricing proposals for accuracy and consistency and conducting business risk assessment. Leads and supports fact-finding and other audit activities
  • Proven ability to lead and close complex negotiations requiring Current Cost or Pricing Data and TINA certification
  • Experience with agreements to support business development, program management and engineering development teams (ex. NDAs, bailment agreements, distributor agreements and/or reseller agreements)
  • Experience of dealing with the US Government and major industry defense & electronics companies, as your customer
  • Strong written and verbal skills

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to get one
  • Management/supervisory experience leading a small team of direct reports
