We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and knowledgeable individual to join our team in this highly visible position of Earned Media Activation Manager.
As we continue to grow and evolve as a company, earned media will be critical in building and sustaining the Bob's brand. Earned media activations play an important part in generating content about our Brand and Culture, and help Bob's reach our target audience without needing to use paid media channels.
The Earned Media Activation Manager will report to the Director of Communications and is an individual contributor role.
As an Earned Media Activation Manager, you will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to execute proactive Earned Media projects for Bob's Outreach and Charitable Foundation, brand partnership activations, workplace recognition program, sustainability activities and other reputation management initiatives.
The Earned Media Activation Manager will be expected to:
Identify new and noteworthy media opportunities that position Bob's in a manner that is conducive to the brand's objectives.
Create, plan, direct, and organize Earned Media programs and events, with the goal of generating a steady stream of positive publicity and outreach for Bob's within a variety of lifestyle, non-endemic and trade publications as well as other types of media.
Content Creation and Management
Create and publish engaging content; Edit, proofread and improve writers' posts; Liaise with content writers to ensure brand consistency; Optimize content according to SEO.
Serve as a contributing writer and managing editor of Bob's blog platform.
Serve as a liaison with multiple internal (social, online, marketing, merchandising) and external (agencies, 3rd party vendors) partners. Example: collaborating with Bob's Social Media Manager to promote Earned Media Events on owned channels.
Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop site content, style and layout.
Plan effective video and photo content that works across digital channels. Work closely with Communications Director and other team members to explore multimedia opportunities
Manage all aspects of project development, pre-production, production and post, including writing, shooting, editing, selection of music, editorial, and licensing.
Create and implement processes to optimize the efficiency of the team. Develop and maintain monthly Earned Media calendar.
Track and report on success measurements including the quality and quantity of media coverage, generate post-campaign analysis.
Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and adjusts the Earned Media strategy as necessary. Improvements to the content strategy should also be made as the Earned Media Activation Manager analyzes media impressions and social media metrics.
Manage miscellaneous projects and administrative work generated from Earned Media events.
Complete other duties as assigned.
An ideal candidate will be an organized, team-oriented idea-generator who has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a passion for storytelling, and can execute against a strategic Earned Media plan. Core competencies for this role include:

This role is currently an individual contributor and does not have direct reports at this time. At times, the Earned Media Activation Manager may be asked to provide direction or coaching to the Outreach/PR coordinator role.
This is an office-based role with some “in the field” assignments including attending Earned Media events.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles as part of Earned Media events.
Expected Hours of Work and Travel
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Some local or regional travel is expected.
Position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
Required Education and Experience
The position requires candidates with:
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of Marketing, Content Management or Communications experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Expert writer, editor and communicator.
Preferred Education and Experience
Elevated understanding of SEO, blogging and social media principles.
Understanding of the retail furniture industry is a plus.
Experience in developing KPIs and measuring the value of earned media.
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field.
