Director of Rehabilitation; Multi-Hospital System
Methodist Hospitals
Merrillville & Gary, Indiana

As a full time, exempt Director of Rehabilitation with Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (PSI), a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services company, at Methodist Hospitals, you will provide leadership and oversight for a total of 65 FTE's for two inpatient Rehabilitation departments in Methodist Hospital Southlake in Merrillville and Methodist Hospital Northlake in Gary, as well as an off campus outpatient pharmacy for each location. You will do this with the assistance of a Rehabilitation Manager, and Lead Physical Therapist, Lead Occupational Therapist, and Lead Speech Language Pathologist. This administrative role, works full time Monday - Friday day shift. Duties include:

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and patient outcomes in all departments
  • Participate in marketing and community events to develop relationships and visibility to the organization's brand
  • Implement and ensure consistent policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper patient billing, keeping current with insurance and Medicare rules/regulations
  • Oversee daily documentation, certification, and quality assurance
  • Establish budget and monitor utilization of staff according to patient load
  • Conduct recruiting, hiring, and assigning work of employees
  • Maintenance of departmental equipment and utilization of supplies
  • Train, coach, and counsel staff members
  • Conduct performance reviews for employees
  • Direct departmental participation in various hospital committees to ensure appropriate representation

About the Facility: Methodist Hospitals are a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system. Methodist has two full-service campuses just 14 miles apart. Northlake is the urban campus in Gary while the Southlake Campus in Merrillville is located near one of the Midwest's busiest retail areas. Combined campus bed capacity is 625 plus nurseries. Midlake Campus is the outpatient facility in Gary, conveniently located between the Northlake and Southlake campuses. This hospital system is accredited through the Joint Commission, as well as CARF . The inpatient Rehabilitation departments at each location are open Monday-Sunday from 8am-4:30pm. The outpatient Rehabilitation departments for each location are open Monday-Friday from 7am-5:30pm. Both locations provide rehabilitation services to adult patients and Northlake Hospital inpatient department also provides provides rehabilitation services pediatric and NICU patients. Management of the Rehabilitation department is outsourced to Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (PSI). This position is an employee of PSI/CPS.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited College or School of Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy Education with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Must be licensed as a physical, occupational or speech therapist in Indiana
  • Master Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • 5+ years of recent Director of Rehabilitation experience is required, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting
  • Ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility
  • ​Demonstrated teaching, relevant professional publications and involvement with Professional organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, respond to client concerns and work cooperatively with other staff
