Under the direction of the Technical Lead, the AV Technician will be responsible for providing on-site troubleshooting and technical support for AV, projection, and audio systems for all spaces in CDM and during events scheduled in key CDM facilities. These events range from MFA thesis screenings to multi-day conferences and film festivals. The AV Technician will also conduct tests and maintenance of system equipment on a regular basis and will help conduct training and education on the proper use of AV systems.
Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct routine tests and preventative maintenance of AV presentation systems throughout multiple buildings in both the Loop, Lincoln Park, and Cinespace campuses.
Assist with installation and configuration of AV hardware including video switchers, projectors, speakers, digital signal processors, and other components.
Under the direction of the Technical Lead and in coordination with Classroom Technology Operations Manager, execute support plans for scheduled events, including on-site, day-of troubleshooting, end-user support, and operation of AV presentation systems.
Assist in developing and disseminating external training and instructional materials for system users from across the DePaul community including faculty, students, and external guests and partners.
Create and maintain internal documentation for AV Support team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience in AV installation.
- Technical proficiency in multimedia environments and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of wired and wireless network connectivity.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal communication.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- AVIXA Recognized Technology Specialist (or completion within 6 months of hire).
- This position will supervise students as needed based on projects.
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 50lbs.
