Service Contract Act (SCA) Position
Hourly Rate: $20.00 to $22.00
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Personnel Assistant I reports to the Human Resources Manager and is an hourly, non-exempt position.
- The Personnel Assistant I is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties relating to personnel, benefits, compensation, and employee relations activities.
- The Personnel Assistant I maintains up-to-date and organized HR files, e.g., confidential, personnel, medical, training, I-9, driver's license, and insurance paperwork.
- Assists with processing paperwork for new hires and terminations, including retirement report and forms when applicable.
- Assists with advertising all open positions available on-center with Job Bid Program and off-center resources.
- Assists with conducting benefits enrollment and orientation for new employees and informing new employees of available insurance benefits, procedures, etc.
- Maintains the chronological training log and individual training records for all employees.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years' related experience in Human Resources preferred.
- Ability to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives required.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
Additional Requirements: Ability to perform administrative duties without immediate and constant supervision. Ability to type accurately at a fast speed. Proficient in the use of a personal computer. Working knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Thorough knowledge of office procedures. Effective organizational skills. Sound business telephone techniques. Ability to proofread and correct grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Ability to deal effectively with the public and government officials. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
