Summary: As the Director of Tax Compliance and Planning your primary responsibility is to direct and
oversee the Company's tax policies and procedures to ensure that the Company is in compliance with all
tax filing requirements while minimizing tax exposure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Liaison with outside tax advisor to ensure compliance with required tax filings. Review income tax
returns prepared by outside tax advisor to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Streamline the tax filing and reporting process through implementation of a tax software. Utilize
the tax software for tax provision and tax planning purposes
Ensure proper state apportionment of revenue and expenses to minimize tax exposure
Provide guidance to the accounting teams on proper record‐keeping in order to meet tax filing
requirements while minimizing tax exposures
Review simple tax returns prepared by the accounting teams including property tax returns,
commercial rent tax returns, state non‐income tax returns, unclaimed property filing and other
filings prepared in‐house
Respond to notices from tax authorities
Monitor any tax exposures outside of the U.S. as the Company expands internationally
Liaison with tax diligence advisor in the tax diligence of M&A deals
Integration of tax filings for acquired subsidiaries and businesses
Work closely with Legal and outside tax advisor on tax planning related to legal structural changes
Stay informed of current federal, state and local tax codes and provide recommendations to
management on tax planning strategies
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a tax‐related function
Experience in a managerial role or advisory role with corporations that are highly‐acquisitive, with a
complex legal structure and operates in multiple states
Experience multiple tax types including corporate tax, partnership tax, state and local tax, sales &
use tax highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to research tax matters and documentation of findings and recommendations
Business or Accounting degree
Work independently and efficiently in a fast pace environment
Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work
Pay attention to detail and accuracy
Strong verbal and written skills
