Description

The Hobby Lobby Distribution Center services all 1,000+ Hobby Lobby Stores across the nation.  The campus, located in Oklahoma City, consists of the Warehouse, Manufacturing, Transportation, & Corporate Departments.

The transportation needs of the company are provided by Hobby Lobby's private fleet, which is also based out of Oklahoma City.  The warehouse operation, which spans over 11 million square feet, houses 2 types of distribution systems, Basic (replenishment) and Seasonal (push).

Encompassing all aspects of the distribution system is the Industrial Engineering Department, which is responsible for supporting each part of the operation from an intellectual perspective for the benefit of the system as a whole.  This includes a vast array of functions included but not limited to the list below, & all of which serve the same purpose, which is to be continuously proactive in improving the efficiency & accuracy of an ever growing & ever changing environment to allow the operation to continue to serve the stores, & by doing so, the Hobby Lobby system in its entirety.

  • Inbound volume/inventory forecasting, slotting, planning, and reporting.
  • RF/Wi-Fi equipment fleet procurement, maintenance, and management. 
  • Operational analysis, documentation, tracking, and training.
  • Proactive research for potential improvements, both procedurally and technologically.
  • Data storage application development, maintenance, and front-end testing.
  • Project management for construction, automation, and software improvements.
  • Benchmarking and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management and reporting.
Directly reports to and primarily responsible for assisting the General Manager of the Industrial Engineering Department in improving all aspects of the department's area of responsibility.  May be assigned specific [stand-alone] responsibility for a unique area within the operation.

Manage assigned function within the Industrial Engineering Department, which is responsible for supporting the Distribution Center in the areas previously listed.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Implement & support the policies & practices consistent with the philosophy of the company.
  • Improve the operational excellence of the area through training & motivation of all employees, both hourly & salary.
  • Evaluate processes/procedures with the goal of potential improvements through suggestions & recommendations.
  • Potential involvement in studies to improve operational efficiency of the entire Distribution System.
  • Integrate into a team environment to solve operational issues from an analytical perspective keeping in mind real world benefits and repercussions.
  • Oversee any other area of responsibility assigned.
  • Undertake all or a piece of one of several simultaneous projects assigned.

Education:
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred
Experience:
  • Preferred 3 years of practical experience 
  • Physical: Intermittent physical activity ranging from walking, standing, climbing, and lifting.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must pass a drug test, must pass background check, and must pass pre-employment test.
  • Must be proficient in all MS Office software applications, with heavy emphasis on MS Access and MS Visio.
  • AutoCAD experience strongly preferred.
  • End-User experience in AS400/Green screen application and/or WMS/ERP change management is a plus.
